Whirlpool WFW95HEXW Front Load Washer Review

MSRP: $1400, Internet Prices from $1095 (including tax and estimated shipping)

The rate at which new technology is being added to front load washers these days is pretty amazing, considering that washer technology didn’t change much for a few decades. There are many models on the market today across a wide range of prices and number of features, and most manufacturers offer many models to choose from, with Whirlpool being no different. The Whirlpool WFW95HEXW Duet front load steam washer is one of the more expensive washers that Whirlpool offers, but it has a large list of features to try to justify that price.

Features:
- 4.3 cu. ft. stainless steel washer basket helps you tackle even the largest loads
- Most efficient washer on the market uses up to 77% less water and 81% less energy than older washers
- 11 automatic wash cycles allow you to match the washer’s settings to any load
- Care Control Temperature Management enabled by 6th Sense utilizes sensors to adjust both water volume and temperature to help protect your clothes
- FanFresh system with Dynamic Venting Technology will circulate air through the washer for up to 16 hours after a cycle ends to keep your clothes smelling clean, and can even dry a small load
- H2Low and 6th Sense is designed to get your clothes as clean as possible, while also minimizing water usage
- 1400 RPM maximum spin speed reduces drying time and costs by removing more water from clothes in the washer
- Deep Clean Steam Cycle gets out even the toughest stains by using steam to thoroughly penetrate fabric to break up stains
- Delay the cycle start time by up to 16 hours so it will start, and finish, when most convenient
- Estimated cycle time remaining display lets you know at a glance when your clothes will be done with an easy to read LCD display
- Get alerted when the cycle is finished by the end of cycle alert
- Add a garment feature lets you quickly add a forgotten item within the first 8 minutes of the cycle
- Child safety control lockout prevents unwanted playing with the washer
- Clean Washer cycle with Affresh lets you use the washer to clean itself to keep it performing optimally
- Direct Inject Washing System virtually eliminates the need to pretreat by using a concentrated burst of detergent directly onto items
- Oxi Dispense Option enhances the cleaning power of the washer by automatically adding an oxygenated bleach alternative at the correct time

Overall the Whirlpool Duet WFW95HEXW has gotten pretty high reviews, receiving 4.6 of a possible 5 stars from those consumers who’ve purchased this front load washer and chosen to post a review. One caveat about these reviews is that there aren’t that many of them out there, but that tends to be the case with the more expensive models - like this one. In general, owners were quite pleased with the capacity of this front loader, no surprise given that it has one of the largest capacities available. Also people found the number of features to be impressive. Perhaps most importantly though, consumers tended to comment that the washer’s performance was one of its strong points. The general consensus is that the WFW95HEXW gets clothes clean quietly and efficiently, then spins them to be quite dry.

Unlike many Whirlpool front load washers, this model doesn’t have massive durability issues surrounding it. There weren’t many complaints, and what there were didn’t follow any type of theme. One person didn’t like the add a garment feature, another had a motor go bad under warranty, another had a circuit board go bad under warranty. The whole point of a warranty is that if something goes bad shortly after purchasing the machine, it gets replaced for free, and in these cases that seems to be what happened, and yet they still gave the WFW95HEXW the lowest possible ratings, so in all reality the ratings for this machine could be much higher.

It seems as though the vast majority of people who have purchased the Whirlpool Duet WFW95HEXW front loading washing machine are happy with their purchase. A few disgruntled consumers who did have some durability issues that were repaired under warranty by their own admission shouldn’t be enough to discourage anyone from buying this model. That being said, the front load washer market is a crowded one with similar offerings from other companies getting similarly high reviews. Ultimately it might come down to finding one model or another on sale at any given time.

Whirlpool WFW9750WW Front Load Washer Review

MSRP: $1300, Internet Prices from $879 (including tax and estimated shipping)

There are many front load washers on the market today with a wide range of prices. Most manufacturers try to offer a varienty of washers with different sizes and features to spread across the spectrum of prices in order to offer a washer to suit the needs of every consumer. Whirlpool is no different that most other companies in this respect, with a large number of washers to choose from. The Whirlpool wfw9750ww is a smaller capacity steam washer built to attract buyers who want all the features available, but don’t necessarily need or want the largest capacities, and it makes the claim to be the most efficient front load washer on the market. Not terribly long ago, in order to get all of the top of the line features, you also needed to buy a the largest sized washer as well, but this is no longer the case, as the WFW9750WW shows.

Features:
- 3.9 cu. ft. stainless steel washer basket is large enough to wash 18 paris of jeans
- Most efficient washer on the market uses up to 77% less water and 81% less energy than older washers
- Choose from 14 automatic cycles to tailor the machines settings to any load of laundry
- Care Control Temperature Management system uses a system of sensors to adjust the water temperature automatically to get clothes as clean as possible without causing shrinkage or color fade
- FanFresh system circulates air through the washer for up to 10 hours after the cycle ends to prevent odors and keep clothes fresh
- H2Low system uses sensors to use the minimal amount of water while still getting your clothes clean
- NightQuiet™ Option allows you to reduce noise by choosing a lower spin speed
- 1400 RPM maximum spin speed gets clothes dryer in the washer to reduce time in the dryer
- Deep cleaning steam option uses steam to penetrate deeply into fabrics to break up tough stains
- Delay Start allows you to load the washer now, but start it later when it is convenient
- Display indicates the estimated time remaining to let you know when to come back to switch your load to the dryer
- End of cycle signal will let you know when the washer is finished
- Child safety control lockout prevents unwanted playing with the washer
- Smooth Spin technology uses shock absorbers, springs, and electronic sensors to limit vibrations and therefore noise
- Direct Inject Washing System injects a concentrated burst of detergent into the drum to prevent the need to pretreat
- Oxi Dispense Option allows the use of a bleach alternative to add oxygenated additive at the proper time
- Add-A-Garment feature ensures that you don't forget something within the first few minutes of the cycle

Sadly, despite the impressive list of features it has the Whirlpool wfw9750ww front load washer did not get good revies from consumers. While there aren't hundreds of reviews out there for this model like there are for some of the entry level front loaders, there are enough to draw some reasonable conclusions about the WFW9750WW. Overall it only gets a rating of 3.2 stars out of a possible 5. While this isn't quite the lowest rating you’ll find for a front load washer, it is certainly near the bottom of the list. Those reviews there were good listed features and appearance as good points, but there were more bad reviews that good for this model.

There is a definite trend within the negative reviews out there for the Whirlpool wfw9750ww front load washer. The central issue of the majority of complaints about this washer is durability. There are a good of complaints about the wfw9750ww complaingin that the bearings around the driveshaft for the washer tub go bad causing the machine to vibrate violently and uncontrollable. This seems to be a fairly common issue, and whats worse, the general lifetime of these bearings for what appears to be normal use seems to be about 1-2 years, meaning that they fail not too long after the warranty runs out. Many of the complaints further go on to mention that the costs to replace the bearings for parts + labor end up being close to, and in some cases more than, the cost of the machine brand new. Even when the machine failed while under warranty there are a number of complaints indicating that they were unable to get repairs due to back ordered parts for weeks at a time.

With as many models for front load washer as there are to choose from, it would seem as though there are simply better alternatives out there than the Whirlpool WFW9750WW. Other manufacturers are offering models with similar features, and similar price that have received much better reviews from customers. One such example is the LG WM3360HWCA, which has a similar capacity, similar features, similar price, but receives a rating of 4.95 out of 5 stars. There are other Whirlpool washers that are reviewed here that have complained about the same issue with bearings, so it is likely best to stay away from Whirlpool as a whole for the time being.

Whirlpool WFW9550WW Front Load Washer Review

MSRP: $1100, Internet Prices from $768 (including tax and estimated shipping)

The front load washer market is a crowded one with many companies offering multiple models at various price points and levels of features to compete for your business. Whirlpool is one of these such companies with a wide range of washers to choose from. The Whirlpool WFW9550WW is a smaller capacity steam washer built to attract buyers who want all the features available, but don’t necessarily need or want the largest capacities. It wasn’t too long ago when only the largest capacity washers offered the top of the line features, but with the WFW9550WW that’s not the case, it has a full list of features.

Features:
- 3.8 cubic feet of capacity from the durable stainless steel washer basket let you wash 18 pairs of jeans at once
- Choose from 12 automatic cycles let you choose the right settings with the touch of a button
- Care Control Temperature Management system automatically adjusts the water temperature so that it is hot enough to fully dissolve detergent, but not too hot to cause shrinking or colors to run
- Delay Start lets you set the washer to start when the time is best for you
- Duet Steam system provides steam for extra versatile cleaning options
- TumbleFresh will intermittently tumble a load once the cycle is finished to help reduce wrinkles and prevent odors
- Adjustable signal for the end of cycle to emit an audible alert when a cycle finishes
- Child safety lock prevents children from playing in the washer
- QuietWash Plus noise reduction system uses stabilizers and direct drive to limit vibrations and noise
- NightQuiet™ Option lets you select to use a lower spin speed to lower noise even more when you need to
- Direct Inject Washing System uses a concentrated burst of detergent to eliminate your need to pretreat clothes
- Add-A-Garment lets you add to the load early on in the cycle, just in case you forgot something

When it comes to customer reviews of the Whirlpool WFW9550WW front load washer, it doesn’t fare well at all. There are a good number of reviews out there for this washer, and sad to say, but there are more bad than good. Overall it receives only 2.4 stars out of a possible 5. This is one of the lower ratings you’ll find for a front load washer. Those reviews there were good listed the value and features as good points, but there weren’t many good reviews out there.

The negative reviews out there for this washer were very consistent in what the complaint was about the Whirlpool WFW9550WW front load washer. This machine has durability issues. The vast majority of complaints about the WFW9550WW center around the bearings around the driveshaft for the washer tub. Apparently these are prone to failure - and they seem to regularly fail every 1-2 years, with most all the complaints pointing out that the bearings started to fail just after the warranty expired. The replacement costs on these bearings seems to start around $600 for parts, plus shipping, plus labor, which seems to add up to be another few hundred dollars. This means that replacing the bearings when they go will very likely cost nearly as much as the new purchase price of the whole machine.

As stated above, the market for front load washers is a crowded one. There are almost certainly other companies that have a better alternative front load steam washer with a similar capacity, list of features, and price to the Whirlpool WFW9550WW that have fewer questions out there about their durability. For example this LG WM3360HWCA review indicates a washer that fits this criteria and seems to have a rating of 4.95 out of 5 stars. As with some of the other Whirlpool washers reviewed here durability seems to be really lacking in the WFW9550WW.

Whirlpool WFW94HEXW Front Load Washer Review

MSRP: $1200, Internet Prices from $950 (including tax and estimated shipping)

With front load washers gaining more and more popularity here in the USA all the major manufacturers of washing machines are trying to capitalize on this new market. Whirlpool is no exception to this trend, and the WFW94HEXW represents one of their middle priced options. With a large capacity and a list of features that are intended to set it above its competitors Whirlpool is actively and aggressively coveting consumers with this model

Features:
* 4.3 cubic feet of capacity, with a stainless steel washer basket will allow very large loads
* LED display allows easy navigation of settings, and a time remaining indicator lets you plan you time
* Automatic 3 tray dispenser with “Precision Dispense” properly adds washing aids during the cycle
* 10 cycles to choose from including anti-allergy, heavy duty, and extra rinse
* Self-clean cycle with Affresh helps keep the washer smelling clean and fresh

* Delay wash setting allows the cycle start time to be set up to 12 hours in the future
* QuietWash system keeps the noise in the washer to keep the rest of the house quiet

There aren’t an abundance of reviews out there on the internet for the Whirlpool WFW94HEXW, but it seems that what is out there is generally not very good. The average review out there is a 3.5 out of 5 stars, which on the surface perhaps doesn’t appear too bad. However, looking more closely at the reviews indicates a pattern. It seems that as a general rule people either liked the WFW94HEXW or hated it. Reviewers seemed to give this front load washer either 5 stars, or 1 star with little middle ground. It should be noted if a washer were to get an even number of 1s and 5s, it would get 3 stars, meaning that barely more people liked this washer than strongly disliked it. The most common complaint that consumers have of the Whirlpool WFW94HEXW revolves around durability, which seems to be a common theme among other Whirlpool models as well.

Perhaps the reviews out there don’t paint the true picture for the WFW94HEXW, but given that there are so many other options available for this price, it is probably worth it to look into other front load washer models.

Whirlpool WFW9050XW front load washer review

MSRP: $699, Internet Prices from $559 (includes tax and shipping)

Whirlpool is one of the most recognizable names in America of companies that make appliances for the laundry room. With a long and successful history of making top loading washing machines, it is no surprise that in recent years Whirlpool has started making ffront load washers as well. With a model lineup that contains a washer at a variety of prices and feature levels Whirlpool likely has something for every consumer. The entry level front load washer that Whirlpool offers is their WFW9050XW which competes in the all important arena of the value priced front load washer. With a capacity matching that of competitors and a strong list of features the WFW9050XW deserves consideration from consumers.

Features:
* 3.5 cubic feet of capacity allows you to clean up to a claimed 16 pairs of jeans in a single load.
* Anti escape valve keeps detergent concentrated for maximal cleaning power.
* Care Control temperature management system uses 6th Sense technology to control water amount and temperature for ideal washing conditions.
* Quiet Wash system uses sound deadening materials to ensure quiet operation.
* Add-a-garment light lets you know when a forgotten item can still be added to the load.
* Choose the right washer settings for every load with 3 temperature settings, 6 automatic cycle options, and 7 adaptive washing actions.
* High speed 1100rpm spin removes more water by the washer to reduce drying times
* Adjustable end of cycle signal will remind you to switch your clothes over to the dryer when they are done in the washer.
* Energy Star certified to meet governmental standards for energy efficiency.
* CEE Tier III qualified by the Consortium of Energy Efficiency for the most efficient classification.

The Whirlpool WFW9050XW has received an average rating of 4.1 out of a possible 5 stars over the span of a few hundred ratings and reviews on the internet. Overall 92% of reviewers would recommend this model to another consumer. Among the chief things that people have mentioned as positives about this washer, is how quietly it operates; to be expected given the Quiet Wash features. Generally speaking this washer is perceived as a good value, and that is does a good job of getting clothes clean as well.

Reading the reviews that negatively review this washer and it is the typical mix of negative reviews, split more or less evenly among the typical themes. Some of the poor reviews complain of mold and poor odor coming from the washer. Yet another subset of the negative reviews complain about vibrations. The third major grouping complains of hardware failures that take, in the estimation too long to repair, or cost to much. It is worth noting however that there are a few negative reviews that are out there that indicate that some thing about this washer is causing clothes to experience excessive wear, and in some cases become entirely ruined.

Overall, and unfortunately for the Whirlpool WFW9050XW, it appears as though there are better alternatives out there for those who are looking for an entry level front load washer. One such better alternative might be the Samsung WF220ANW, which has the same MSRP and therefore can be found at various stores for more or less the same price as the WFW9050XW, but has a larger capacity and has received better reviews. Another alternative is the LG WM2140CW, which has been around for quite a while and has been a favorite of those who have purchased it. It also has a slightly larger capacity for more or less the same price. In a market as crowded as the front load washer market is, with consumers having many choices from various manufacturers to meet their needs, it is important to stand out in some way, and unfortunately, the Whirlpool WFW9050XW just doesn’t seem to be as good a choice as some other models.
